Paris, France (Pair-ree)

A famous quote of a evil man came to mind yesterday.  Adolf Hitler is famous for asking "Is Paris Burning?".  Well, I'm not sure about all of Paris but while taking a nice afternoon nap yesterday the fire alarm went off in the hotel.  I didn't really want to die in a hotel in Paris so I jumped up and Lindsey and I scooted down the stairs (3 flights) to the already crowded reception area.  Talk about confusing....Non English speaking front desk person, guest were Russian, American, Chinese and French. hmmmmm..... Now what?

It was a good way to meet the other guest, but I would of rather of finished my dream with Robson Green as the leading man and I as the leading lady.  It was only rated G but it had potential!  To make it even worse, there was  no fire unless you count that at the end of a cigarette.  A smoker is the reason for all of the excitement and the reason my dream is to be continued.  Oh well....Life is good. I am in Paris!

We spent the first day just walking around and ended up at the Eiffel tower.  After a short nap and the fire drill we made our way by metro to the  Montparnasse area.  One of the famous sites in the area is the Sacre Couer basilica.  This is the highest  point in Paris and has A LOT of steps to get to the top.  I walked all of them (proud of me Kay?).  I was feeling very close to God at that point....like going to die close to God!

Lindsey really enjoyed the Sacre Couer basilica.  There was a service going on and she listened to the singing.  She said it was beautiful.  I was still out on the steps trying to keep from having a heart attack from the stair climbing.  I think I can say I walked off the creme brule that I had earlier.

When we were leaving we turned the corner on a street and saw the evening lighting of the Eiffel tower.  It was going crazy with all sorts of sparklers and flashing lights.  It did that for a few minutes and then went to ordinary lights.  It was a little mini light show and tres kewl (my French for very cool).
We then wandered through the tiny streets until we found a metro.  We headed towards the Champs Elysee and the Arc de Triomphe (one of my favorites).  Lindsey insisted we had dinner on the Champs Elysee so I gave in and had a touristy meal that included an 8 euro priced lemonade (that hurt!).  No alcohol included.  But it made her happy and this trip is for her.

We saw so many interesting people down on the Champs Elysee.  While eating our dinner we were doing some serious people watching. One man kept walking by and would just push his face into people's faces and yell random words.  It was funny to watch the reaction of the people. Some would scream, some would jump and one guy even threw his cigarette at him.  We got dinner and a show!  Maybe that's why the lemonade was 8 euros. It was worth every penny.

It was full day and I was exhausted.  It was 2 am when my head finally hit the pillow and I knew there was no rising in time for the hotel breakfast.  One last call to the front desk to cancel breakfast and then off to dreamland.

Oh by the way....I saw these while on the metro and I'm going to have to get me a pair....anyone want me to pick a pair for them??
