Forgettable Aix en Provence

When planning this trip I was told to make certain Lindsey saw Aix en Provence.  I forgot to put a post out here after our visit because it was Forgettable and very short.  We got off the train; checked into our hotel and then went directly out to see the city and get a plan.  We didn't even stay 3 hours and we went back to the hotel to checked out and straight to the train station.  We didn't like anything about the city.  Maybe we didn't give it a  chance but we followed our gut instincts on our view of the downtown area, the people, the lack of cleanliness, etc. That was enough for us.

I have posted a few pictures of the sculptures in the downtown area that were interesting.  The artist had a thing about bodies and body parts.  It was hard to get a shot of each of these because there were so many people on them - eating, drinking, etc.  It was like they didn't have respect for the artist or their creation.

You know how you can look at post cards and get an idea of what the city has to offer?  You know....sort of their bragging rights. Well, we did that first thing and all we could see on the cards was exactly what we saw in the short time we were there.

We knew there would be one or two duds on the trip and this was surely one of them.  I would not ever return to this city unless it was required.  It's really a shame since the city does have potential.  It has a nice layout, beautiful trees and great weather but then you have the litter, too many street people and the traffic congestion.

Maybe there were areas outside of the city but after what I saw, I had no desire to spend time or money to venture out.  We will chalk this one up to "now we know" and not put it in any of our future iternaries.
Sorry France but you missed it on this one!

We hopped a train directly to Lyon.  Our hotel booking was not for until 2 nights ahead of the current day.  Dropping into the hotel and asking them for a vacancy paid off.  We got the room early and all was good.
